Following last year’s acclaimed, news-making STOP UKIP TOUR, the UK’s hottest musical comedians Jonny & the Baptists once again bring their unique blend of songs, satire and silliness to the nation with a new 30-date tour in the five-week run-up to the UK General Election on 7 May 2015.
Leaving partisanship aside to tackle the big issues of our times, JONNY & THE BAPTISTS ROCK THE VOTE is their most ambitious show yet. And with politicians now officially ranked below estate agents in the public’s trust, it’s a desperate bid to find at least one good reason to vote.
After topping the iTunes UK Comedy Chart last year with hit single ‘Farage’, the Baptists now take on the whole political spectrum to engage, enrage and inspire. Offering £5 tickets for first time voters at all venues, the show opens at Oxford’s Old Fire Station on 2nd April before travelling across the country and ending with an election night special on 7th May at London’s Soho Theatre before a post-electoral aftermath finale on 8th May at Liverpool’s Unity Theatre.
Familiar to fans of the UK circuit and Radio 4’s The Now Show, Jonny & the Baptists have rapidly won acclaim for their unique blend of riotous rock’n’roll, satirical soul and anthemic absurdity. Independently, frontman Jonny Donahoe has also won fame for smash-hit one-man show Every Brilliant Thing at the Edinburgh Festival and Off-Broadway, while his Baptists partner Paddy Gervers has garnered a cult following as host of his acclaimed ‘Podshambles’ podcast.
